The flag of India was last adopted on 22 July 1947. It consists of three horizontal stripes of saffron, white, and green. Saffron stands for courage and sacrifice; white, for purity and truth; and green, for faith and fertility. The 24-spoke wheel in the center represents the Dharma Chakra, the wheel of law.
